9th ICCML Forum

On 12 June 2015 the Institute for Corporate and Capital Markets Law (ICCML) hosted the 9th ICCML Forum. After Professor Rüdiger Veil welcomed the audience, Professor Marcus Lutter opened the corporate law part of the event with an impressive presentation celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stock Corporation Act. Professor Alfred Bergmann, Professor Ulrich Seibert as well as Dr. Joachim v. Falkenhausen commented on the legal act’s current and future development from the perspective of courts, the legislature and legal practitioners. The second part of the conference focused on capital markets law. To begin with, Professor Thomas Rönnau explained the sanctioning mechanisms of the revised capital markets law. After that Professor Christoph Seibt adressed a company’s internal responsibilities.

The new European Market Abuse Regulation constituted the grand finale of the evening. Christophe Polisset, representing the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) had arrived from Paris to give insights on how the regulatory authority intends to create a „Single Rulebook for Market Abuse“ on the European level. Subsequently, Stephan Oppenhoff took a stand on the new insider law. Last but not least Dr. Andreas Meyer gave a presentation about disclosure obligations and closed periods. The many informative presentations made the journey to Hamburg once again a worthwhile travel.
